The PFL2106-4ET-96 solves a common problem on large compounds: a camera beyond the 100-metre limit of standard Ethernet. Dahua's ePoE technology sends data and power up to 800 metres over CAT5e/CAT6 at 10Mbps, or 300 metres at 100Mbps. There is no need for a mid-span repeater or a second switch at the fence line.
It has four 10/100 PoE ports. Ports 1–3 supply up to 30W, and port 4 supplies up to 60W Hi-PoE for a PTZ, within a 96W total. Uplinks are one gigabit RJ-45 and one 100/1000 SFP port. Available power falls with distance: Dahua rates about 7W at 800 metres, enough for a low-power camera.
It is an industrial design rated for -30 to 65°C, with 4kV common-mode surge protection. It runs from a 48–57V DC adapter. With Dahua's LR1002 converter, it can also run over existing coax cable.
