Garmin GPSMAP 79sc Floating Marine Handheld GPS with BlueChart g3

The GPSMAP 79sc is Garmin's marine handheld for boat operators, fishing teams, and offshore crews. It floats if dropped overboard and is rated IPX7 against water, a real advantage over a phone on a boat.

It comes preloaded with BlueChart g3 coastal charts, which combine Garmin and Navionics data. In the model name, "s" means sensors and "c" means charts: it has a 3-axis compass and a barometric altimeter. The 3-inch colour screen is sunlight-readable, fog-resistant, and scratch-resistant.

It runs on two AA batteries for up to 19 hours of GPS tracking, and it stores 10,000 waypoints and 250 routes. That covers regular routes along creeks, lagoons, and coastal waters.
