Garrett Super Scanner V Handheld Security Metal Detector

The Garrett Super Scanner V is a handheld metal detector wand used by security staff to screen people and bags at entrances to banks, hotels, schools, event venues, churches, mosques, and offices. It is often used alongside a walk-through detector to find exactly where on a person the metal is.

Garrett rates its sensitivity at a medium-sized pistol from about 9 inches, a large knife from 6 inches, razor blades and box cutters from 3 inches, and small items such as foil-wrapped packets and tiny jewellery from 1 inch. It is self-calibrating, so guards do not need to adjust sensitivity, and it signals with a sharp audible alarm and a bright red LED.

A single 9V battery runs it for up to 100 hours, and an optional NiMH rechargeable battery gives up to 45 hours per charge. The case is high-impact ABS with a reinforced coil housing for daily handling.
