Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-I 4MP WDR Dome Network Camera

The DS-2CD2142FWD-I is a 4 MP dome camera for entrances, lobbies, corridors, and shop floors, where it has to deal with bright doorways and occasional knocks. Its IP67 and IK10 ratings let it go outdoors under a canopy and resist tampering in public areas.

It records 2688 × 1520 at up to 20 fps from a 1/3-inch sensor. 120 dB WDR keeps faces visible when someone walks in against bright daylight, and infrared covers up to 30 m at night. Lens options are 2.8, 4, and 6 mm.

A microSD slot (up to 128 GB) records locally as a backup to the NVR. It uses H.264+ compression, which is more efficient than plain H.264 but uses more storage than newer H.265+ models; we factor that into hard-drive sizing.

It powers from 12 V DC or PoE. We match the lens to each position and aim the dome to cover the approach to the door, not just the door itself, so faces are captured before people turn away.
