The NVR2108HS-8P-4KS2 is a compact 8-channel Dahua recorder for homes, shops, and small offices. Each IP camera plugs into one of its eight PoE ports for power and video, up to 25.5 W per port and 80 W in total.
It has 80 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, previews and plays back cameras up to 8 MP, and decodes one 8 MP or four 1080p channels at once. Although the listing says 1080p, the HDMI output actually reaches 4K, with a simultaneous VGA output. H.265 compression can save up to half the drive space compared with H.264, by Dahua's figures.
One SATA bay takes a drive of up to 6 TB. It works with Dahua and ONVIF-compatible IP cameras, and connects to the DMSS app for remote viewing.
Its compact size fits a shelf or small cabinet where a full rack isn't practical. We size the hard drives to how many days of recording you need to keep, and connect the recorder to a UPS or inverter so it keeps recording through power cuts.
